Using a mapped network drive on ps3
Using a mapped network drive on ps3 –

This is something i've been wondering about for awhile, and i would think it should be doable if the right person got interested.
What my idea consists of is being able to share a drive on my pc and map it with my ps3 so that its viewed from the ps3 as another external storage device. We can already do this in a sense for movies/pictures/music using the "media server function", but why not games. We can play games from usb, and that's slower than if we were transferring over 1Gb ethernet, so speed wouldn't be an issue. I would love to see this type of functionality implemented, if anyone knows of a reason this won't work, i'd like to know it, if anyone has thoughts on how to make it work, i'd love to hear that. Thanks in advance for anything constructive that you can contribute.

i believe cobra dongle allows this.
it should be moderatly easy to do it on a CFW, you would have to figure out how to make a shadow package of the game that looks for the network folder with the games in it. you shouldnt have to modify anything in the game folder, you just need an executable on your ps3 to lauch the networked game, or so it seems. you should be able to use multiman's network tool, and you would need to modify the param in the shadow copy or something, i really am not sure, but it seems like it is very do-able.
i dont have a 3.55 ps3 atm to try with, but i may look into it or something, any tips would be nice
but i think all you would have to do is change all instances of the game path in the param.sfo and/or eboot.bin in the shadow copy to what ever the network drives location is. but like i said i am uncertain.
