Updating with usb firmware loader

If you load your flash from dev_usb then run an update, will the flash files on the usb device get updated but not on the ps3?

DON'T do that, it will update your actual PS3 FW, not the USB FW.

Let's all have a moment of silence for one of JaiCrab's PS3's which he tried exactly this and now is stuck on firmware 3.50.

I believe I read Jaicrab (the dev of the original firmware loader) did it for testing purposes so no one else would. It's part of the process of figuring out these things unfortunately.

Well, I would have to say it's kind of obvious it wouldn't work because it resets the PS3 out of GameOS before it begins to flash meaning the firmloader and any hooks would be wiped from memory.

Oh well....if it's in the name of progress then it's a noble cause. I suppose someone had to try it.
