Hi I need some knowledge here! I'm using a slim that was on OFW 3.55 and when trying to update to Kmeaw 3.55 it started looping(ussually 26% and 33% and always with error 8002F147). I've been reading a lot about bypassing the blu ray check on a system update since the blu ray was defective and I was able to format the HDD on the laptop and used my MFW with blu ray bypass from recovery mode but still getting stuck. Today I received a complete working blu ray drive and plugged it in, reformatted the HDD and tried again with OFW 3.55 and BDB 3.55 from recovery mode with no success.
Is there a solution to this problem like bypassing more hardware checks or is there a way to identify the actual hardware that's failing so it can be fixed?

did you put the logic board off the old drive onto the new drive if so then it could be a faulty logic board and not the actual bluray drive but rogero cfw should instal fine though i used this with a faulty drive.

The drive is good but im not sure about the logic board(wouldn't the BDB FW bypass checking the logic board too?) I've used several BDB FWs and still get looped on 26% error 8002F147 so i think the problem is with something else. What other options do i have with this PS3? Is there a FW that would bypass all hardware checks?

If I'm not wrong 26% is a faulty hard drive, usually if it is the Blu-ray it will fail at around 76%. Hope this helps

Thank you for the reply! I I have tried 5 different hdd's all fully formated to ntfs with no success I had a bad one though and made the update fail at 99% so i think failing before 50% is something else. Yesterday i got to 33% with the OFW. I wish there was more documentation on the meaning of what the update is looking for on each %.

your problem isnt the hdd. you need to remarry ur bd drive. if you have a old psp, iphone 3gs or ipod touch, ti- calc or a dongle you could remarry ur bd drive and u will have no problems

Slims do not need to be remarried, as the logic board is part of the motherboard, Fatties on the other hand will need to be remarried, that's what I'm trying to do at the moment (if this AVRKEY) plays the game.

Thank you I will look into remarrying with my old psp but still i have tried the update even without the blu ray drive and using a bypass firmware and it still fails the same way! I'm starting to think all the hdd's I've tried are bad! when i tried a confirmed bad hdd it got to 99% and it just froze up without an error. The other 3 hdd's ive tried loop with the 8002F147 error at 25-33%.

I've tried rogero with no luck either, the only option i would like to try but cant is using a working system from someone else on 3.55, boot it to recovery mode with a clean hdd and do a restore then put that hdd on my looped ps3 and hope for the best but anyways since i don't have the access right now to a working system on 3.55 i am going to take it to a repair shop tomorrow and see if they can try that they gave me a 90% chance of fixing update loops so i'm hoping to be on that percentage wish me luck!
