Is there a way to boot firmware from USB

Is there a way to load ps3 from usb stick??? I thought that there was a payload or something that allowed you to do this but now having trouble finding it. I would like to be able to do some modifications of the ps3 firmware files and boot from usb without fear of breaking my ps3.

Jaicrab released a firmware loader a long time ago. I think there was one put out by n4ru too. Both were for firmware 3.41 and I don't believe they've been updated since then.

You're looking for Jaicrab's USB firmware loader.. I think it (and other tools that do the same thing) only work with 3.41.

Thanks. I knew I wasn't crazy. It appears to be in spanish though. I hope it lets me load my own dev_flash without risking a brick. Thanks again!

Unless the memory offsets for peek/poke have been updated it won't with unless you are on 3.41

well i ported stoker25's method to 3.55 but didn't release, because i thought nobody would need it.
you have to run lv2patcher first to get rid of lv2 protection. it mounts dev_usb000 as dev_flash.
