Downgrading NOR systems via service mode indeed does format the hard drive, however for NAND systems it doesn't.

All info in this thread is related to the OP, not to the myriad of PS3 internal combinations.
Those with 16meg systems would not bother reading this since they don't lose anything to begin with.

On the 16meg front though, I have downgraded heaps and never lost a single thing from the HDD.

The ps3 now turns off automaticaly after 10 seconds....

weird.....never saw that one before.....to get your system to run again just put 3.15 with the lev2(1)on a jumpdrive and turn your system on....if its in service mode it should reflash it and bring your system back.

Make sure you put the jumpdrive in the port closest to the bluray drive....Post the log if you can, that might can give us some clues as to whats going on here.....I did a check on that code and it seems that one other person got it in france, I used google translate but no solution was found for them at this time.

make sure the only files in the jump drive are the pup and .self file. Take the log out.

they are the only files, no log is generated now... the system just seems to don't consider what is inside the pendrive..
