    Hi everybody,
I own a 60 gb launch ps3, I unfortunately broke my bd logic board due to a shortcut when heating my ps3 mainboard to fix the YLOD.
Anyway I still can play my backups using it though multiman, I just need to press eject and even if the drive doesn't move I can get games to work ( I'm on 3.55 kmeaw).

Now I bought a compatible bdm 001 drive logic board and rebuilt my bd drive, it spins it ejects it's ok now from a mechanical point of view.
To watch blu ray movies again now I think I should do a remerry, right?
    What guide should I use?
I've found one here by Mark Webber, but the links are dead.
I've found another one too (can't post link sorry ) they are almost completely different, which one should I choose?

After remarring will I be able to play backups though MultiMan? If I update to OFW 3.72 to play new games like Uncharted 3, will the BD play them? Will my BD drive play Bd movies on 3.72 OFW?

I have seen that it could be useful to retrieve my last movies DRLs, can I find them inside my hdd? I could also make a guess about the last played BD movie because the logic board broke on january 2011, so I could look at the January 2011 BD movies...

I've also seen a video on youtube of a guy swapping the nand, since mine seems ok ( I can enter multiman and launch games), can I try that way? Is it risky?

    Thanks a lot

Remarry a different logic board = permanent BD playback loss (unless you have the DRL files from the PS3 the logic board came from), maybe the band-aid fix that was recently released would help as soon as you stay on 3.55 otheros++, but if you update you will lose it again.

what's this band aid fix all about? if I update I will "miss it again" means blu ray movies playback or even games(let's say I go to 3.72 OFW) ?
I have seen the DRLToolsGen online, can't I do a "brute force" attack to try every possible MKB version ? I've seen that MKB versions are like 20-30, maybe I could try 'em all...

I believe there's a way to dump HRL via linux. I'm not sure exactly how. Check gitbrew website, maybe you'll find it. If you can dump and read the HRL (prob needs decryption though :x altho the PS3 should have the public key for it), you can know what movie you need the DRL from.

    OK, here's how it works.
There are 3 AACS revocation lists : DRL, CRL and HRL. I'm not sure if CRL matters, but probably doesn't. However the PS3 will refuse to boot without the correct DRL.
On the drive memory are stored the HRL, and hashes for DRL/CRL. Actual DRL/CRL are stored on the PS3 NAND. You need a DRL which hash matches the one stored on the drive.
If you dump the HRL, decrypt it, you can see what movie it came from. Get a BD of the same movie and create DRL files from it.
That said, I'm really not sure how to dump the HRL.

Maybe. You should ask him next time you see him.
    Until then, ponder this:
The HRL is stored unencrypted in the MX chip on the BD board.
    The locations are 0x10000 & 0x18000
The first contains the current HRL, the second contains the second highest HRL.
A 16Meg PS3 only has a version 1 HRL regardless of what it has played (and regardless of what the DRL is in dev_flash3)
A 16Meg PS3 suffers the EXACT same overwrite of the DRL's as the 256Meg version, but there are NO checks to compare the DRL to the HRL before playback is allowed.

Attached file contains a few dumps of MX chips if you want to load them into an HeX editior and have a look around.
Do note the matching version 1 HRL's stored in there =)MX25L1005.rar

One of those questions if you need to ask, you shouldn't be touching it.
But for sheer shit's and giggles.
You will need a reader/programmer capable of handling an MX25L1005
Then using a reflow/infrared remove the IC and read it with the programmer.

Stuff it up, and your drive is useless - you have been warned muwhahahaha
