    Wait!!!!!!!!
    Remember Wanninkoko V1??
If you want to brick your console because of your impatience, just install that!!!!
In the mean time, guess what... Wait.
Not sure where you are going with this, but all this does it puts the Ps3 into an alternate service mode state. You need to put a lower firmware onto the Ps3 (ofw) before you do it though from what I have read (around 2.30)

This will not brick your Ps3 anymore then the jailbreak or normal service mode would. The original files have been released and need to be modded to (from what I can see) tell the Ps3 it has been connected to a Pc running the SDK and also has a jig connected. The Ps3 will then launch the alternate service mode.

DH will be releasing the "already modified" files in the next few days (info from his site)

This is great. I have two PS3s with 400 drives with dead lasers, and two working 410 drives just sitting there. I can't express how great it would be to get the 410 drives paired with my PS3s.

If you want to point the finger at anyone, look no further then DemonHades. He has it in his head you should "learn" and then he will release. I am 99% sure he is the one behind the original files. (not math)
Psmaniaco is not the source, just the news poster. Suffice to say, he has been hung out to dry since the files have not been released.
The files that were posted I have inspected, manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self is pretty much just Lv2diag we use already. The Lv2diag released with this set contains alot of interesting text strings, but what stops it running has me stuffed. There is also a config file, half in Japanese & English. Until the Lv2diag has all it's conditions met though, it won't even be read to act.
What I can assume it is checking for:
    • network connection to a sony Pc
    • the jig is attached

If the first can be located in code and bypassed, then the rest we have and it "should" launch.

It seems to be a theory about the 2.30 firmware. It maybe possbile with others upto 3.41 from what they are talking about at Elotrolado.

It is possible that what will be required is a pup made from components of 2.30fw + other files.

That kind of makes more sense then anything since Lv2diag is involved.

With the Ps3, it's all theory.
I recall clearly in 2009 people seeing pictures with the red box on the screen for service mode and screaming fake. Had to be photoshop etc etc.
Take everything as it comes is the only way with this
Believe nothing until you see it yourself.

For me, getting these bloody drives to work has become personal. So I will do whatever the hell I can to get it to happen. Even then, there are a lot of other things inside this new Lv2diag to make it very useful for repairs.
