Reflowed PS3, No video or controller connection
Reflowed PS3, No video or controller connection –
So, I reflowed the PS3 with Arctic silver and when I put it back together and started it, the YLOD is gone but so isnt the video and controller connection. Not sure why this would happen. I put it back the way it showed me. Help please!
You Reflowed your PS3 with arctic silver? Do you mean you put new thermal paste on or Did you Heat the GPU/CPU with heat-gun/hot airgun and re-flow the solder to the connection points. Sorry just didn't understand what you did.
I tore the whole thing down, cleaned off the old paste then used a heat gun over the motherboard like it shows then waited a half an hour and applied the arctic silver and put the whole thing back together and the YLOD went away but it wouldnt show video and wouldnt connect the controllers even when plugged in. Is this a motherboard problem or a HHD problem? Either way how can I fix it?
i know this is a stupid question but did u hold down the power button to start the video reset sequence?
I wouldn't say that its a stupid question, as this had gotten me a few times, when I decided to relow mine, and test them on a sdtv insead of my main hdtv!

A reflow is not a fix-all, and you most likely still have an issue with the GPU connections. You need to have the GPU professionally reBALLED.
While it might sound like this involves changing out your PS3s manliness, it involves completely removing the GPU and replacing the solder with a more temperature-tolerant leaded solder.
