    Hello,

Just tried installing PSL1GHT+ps3chain on my newly downloaded Ubuntu 10.10 and have come to a problem. I am following this tutorial: Setup a build environment for compiling and running homebrew for PS3 «

The screenshot attached basically outlines my error, taken exactly after the error has occured.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as I am really eager to get this SDK up and running without downloading anything more..

    TutorialInstall - PSL1GHT

follow that... DON'T install libelf-dev from the list. If you already have, run:

    sudo apt-get purge libelf-dev

then follow the section on installing libelf on ubuntu on that link

I skipped the last step and instead, went to my /tmp folder and clicked the packages to install them.

    Hope that helps :P

EDIT: Also, I'd install it from root access:

    sudo su

You'll have to export the paths to the root bash. But it'll stop you from getting permission errors. The toolchain-sudo.sh never worked for me but you can use the regular script while in root access.

I will try with the sudo apt-get purge libelf-dev

Also, do you recommend github.com/ooPo/ps3toolchain.git over github.com/HACKERCHANNEL/ps3chain.git, coz right now I have been trying to install the HACKERCHANNEL ps3chain, rather than ooPo's.

Is ooPo's better, or are they the same?

oopo definitely, the other one hasn't been updated since november.... ooPo... 9 hours ago XD When you have a choice like that, i'd go for the one constantly being updated

EDIT: AND it automatically downloads and installs PSL1GHT and Ps3 libraries so you won't have to do that. All in one command. ^^

Hey can't see from the thread if you got it sorted but when i was having problems making the psl1ght samples after installation, i re did the ./toolchain.sh step as root, i know Slynk has already mentioned it but i just wanted to share that it solved my problems.

How long should the installation take.. because I started it about 2 hours ago and it is still going? I'm up to the ./toolchain.sh step.

Depending on the specs of your system and the speed of your internet... awhile XD Keep checking to make sure it doesn't freeze. If it says it's downloading something but the bar isn't moving... press CTR+C and run the toolchain again *sigh* the good news is, anything you've downloaded (parts of files included) won't be re-downloaded but it WILL have to re-install >.< If someone knows a better keyboard combination that would just reset a wget command, please post. But yeah. Mine took about an hour to install. If you're running VM... a long time I'd assume lol.
