    Hi.
    At first, sorry for my bad english, my native language is Russian/Ukrainian.

    I'm been repairing xboxes for some time, but now I'm interested more in ps3 service/development.

    As known it's easy to find out error code of broken xbox360 by pressing scan+eject. But what about PS3? There's only YLOD... Yes, most recent problem is cold solder joint under CELL/RSX/RAM that need a reflow or reball, but what if you don't know what previously was with system? For example full brick/currupted nand after installing Waninkoko CFW on Fat PS3. Doing reflow/reball in that case will be extremly stupid and useless work...

    So for now is there a some feature to make diadnostic and know what wrong with YLOD PS3? As far as I know there is no instructions released to public, so maby we could find out some and collect in this topic. Sony's ex-employe help will be great...

    Also backward-compatible ps3 with YLOD while startup blinking twice at MS Duo card slot like trying to read/write. I think it's exactly for that purpose.
    More info at this will be also great.

    =====
    First instruction is how to test if YLOD Power-Supply related.
    Here is pretty accurate instructions found on youtube

    So please write here your diagnostic instructions, I will add it in first post.
    Thanks.

    There is possibly a code read out via a blinking light when you do a fan test on a YLOD console (disconnect power, hold eject and reconnect), Nobody has taken the time to properly look into this.

    EDIT: Also the memory card blinking light is simply the firmware on the card reader indicating that it is functioning. This does not appear to be any sort of recovery method as the USB/cardreader stack is introduced much later in the boot chain.

    Could you please tell me the (+) and (-) node for the multimeter in this PSU test ?

    Also when you turn on your PS3 and it can get into XMB menu for a few seconds then it turn off (YLOD) then you can check on the TOKEN capacitors.
    Hope that helps
