I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this but okay. I think there should be a PS3 webserver, if your able to host a FTP server why not a webserver? That's my question... if anyone is willing to make one I would love it!
Thanks

question is.. why would you want a webserver..?
Sounds like something Kip would ask.
So are you trying to create some makeshift gamesever? Or a webserver where everyone stores their games and you run games off the network? Not really sure what you're asking.

If you knew what a webserver was I think you would know...question is.. why would you want a webserver..?
Well, it would be cool if you could host a website, gameserver and stuff on a ps3... It would be useful for stuff I do. Who's Kip, I just joined this site a couple secs ago lol.Sounds like something Kip would ask.

BTW! Sorry for double posting, didn't notice until later!
well its better to get asbestos to work.. you can just use apache@ linux then..
It's a valid question.
Why dedicate a $300 gaming console to perform such a simple task? FTP Server has a real prupose - it's not to sit on your network , opened through your router to host warez... it's so you can upload backups of your games from your PC to your PS3, as well as explore the internal file system of the PS3.
Putting a web server on your Ps3 accomplishes, what, exactly? It's not going to do more than your home PC can do. There are cheaper devices you can get to perform the same task just as well (in fact, the PS3 is hardly optimized to handle "real" network traffic a server should handle, since it's designed as a network client).
So what compelling reason do you have for turning the PS3 into a rather poor dedicated Web Server?

So, because I want a WebServer for the ps3 and you think I shouldn't I'm wrong? I don't see what's so bad about wanting to do something unique...It's a valid question.

I know what a webserver is, I even have educational certificates on the subject and working on an engineering degree. Webserver is not even the correct terminology.
And yet, I still dont know why you would stop all the work your playstation does, to host a HTTP Server on your gaming console? It has poor networking, it has the risk of overheating while running for a few days (greater the older model you have), it cant multitask properly, its really expensive. You could get a computer made of free scrap parts to do a better job.
Still it would be a fairly trivial job to make one, so learn to code a bit and you can do it your self (I cannot guarantee that you will be able to, but its still an easy job).
If you want to be unique, I genuinely suggest you start making your own clothes instead.
