PS3 TEST DEBUGING STATION FIRMWARE UPDATE (UNABLE TO UPDATE)

Dear PS3 Test users,

I have a concern regarding my sony debuging station i recently purchased 2012 fifa street for my console if i load the game i get a message i have to update my software on my system i am currently runing on v. 3.73. The problem isnt allowing me to update my software and the connect via internet opption is not highlited. I have tried using a usb and that doesnt work also. So i will need to update the debug software if you could advise me with options?

Im kind a new to this is that where you have to hold down the power button and let it beep 3 time and then i has option for system update, i did try this but notthing happen.

If you can kindly attach a file with guide how to fix that would be great im not clued on this at all first time i owned a ps3.

I don't know if i have to install retail or test debug firmware.

Are you certain your on a test machine? if it is indeed a debug machine you will need a DEX firmware. If it's retail like you went and bought it at the store and didn't do a CEX to DEX conversion You will need a Retail or CEX firmware.

Are you sure its not a CEX machine running CFW?


to install A Firmware through recovery you must place the update on a usb Jump drive or a small flash memory device. an Externall HDD works too. Place the Update file named PS3UPDAT.pup into a Folder called UPDATE and put that in a Folder called PS3 So

HDD:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.pup

Now attach the USB device to the PS3 removing all games from the drive and run the update option from recovery.

I don't even know if its's DEX or CEX i purchased from the private buyer sad thing i don't have his number anymore so im stuck, how do i check if it DEX or CEX or CFW?

When i go to setting i have a option for debug settings which i dont know how to use, i can play fifa 10 but any latest game's i have to update the software,

When i first try'd to update via USB memory stick, i follow these instruction from sony retail website PS3/UPDATE then download the software 4.31 then copy'd files onto PS3 & UPDATE or either UPDATE and then try'd going into system update then some time i get a option 4.31 update but it not high lighted in white only grey and flashes.

I cant even sign into PSN?

Converting a real DEX unit into CEX ? what you're thinking ? Recipe for a 1000 USD brick.

@ the OP, sell that machine to someone who knows what it is and buy a jailbroken console. You will save yourself a LOT of headache, honest.

A development console will not operate at PSN because it's ID doesn't match the ones that are allowed there.

Console types: (C)EX > Consumer | (D)EX > Developer | (S)EX > Shop

You should update it to PS3ITA 4.21 CFW. You will be able to play all new games, and play on PSN. To play on PSN.

And quit trying to instal CEX firmware on a DEX console. You are gonna brick it.

I know is a debug system and worth quite a bit im based in uk how would i install a latest debug firmware and where can i get it from and how to install may be i might be doing it the wrong way?

How do i check if my setting are ok on the debug?

I dont want to sell it i can get it fixed but it will cost around £35.00.

I just need the latest debug firmware?

Brick is a slang. It's when you damage the software inside the device to a point you cannot recover it without sending in for repairs at authorized service.

The meaning is "As good as a brick" since it does nothing but sit there. :\


Also, if it's really a DEX console it will have "TEST" written under the "PlayStation 3" logo at the cover, or it will have a sticker which says "Debugging Station". And DEX FW will install correctly.
