ps3 strange problem powers up and shuts down completely. –
I have some ps3 slim that have strange problem. When pluged in it shows red light. But as soon as I press the power button, it powers on and nothing shows on the screen. it shuts down completely in 10sec. The seal is still intact. Is it possible that it has been bricked? Is there a way the ps3 can be bricked without opening? I know it is not ylod as no blinking lights shows up. These ps3 are new models like 3001-A. I have 5 of them. So far I could not find a solution on google on youtube. Please help.
So, you have 5 of the same PS3s, and all of them have the problem, or just 1 of them? Also, what have you done/tried to do that made it this way?
Yes all of them have the same problem. I have no clue what happened. It is not ylod becuase symptoms are very differnt nor it is bricked as the seal is still intact. I am thinking of power supply but I changed it and still no go.

I'd say the consoles are ok (can't imagine how they all could broke with the same symptom), it could be either bad power (too low or too high voltage f.e.), or TV/monitor: maybe PS3s "can't find" a display/proper video mode and consequently turn off after few secs.
That is a symptom of a hardware failure. there are many reasons for it to happen. One of which is failure of the CPU. It's very possible they have a bricked firmware installed as well. The Wanky Flu was going around for awhile......
hi i work for a console repair company in uk, called consolewerks, the fault that you have is easierly fixed. basically all your main hardware, ie motherboard and drive are fine.

Sony have since been using 2 different power supplys EADP 220BB and APS270.
Change over the psu and your be fine, do not buy APS250 even if places state they are working, they will only develop the fault later.
You can adjust the cut off switch in the current psu but i do not advise this at all.
another way of seeing weather you have a APS250 without opening console is holding the ps3 under a light, look at the rear of the ps3 where you plug the figure 8 cable, look carefull through the psu grill on back, you have to catch the right angle, but basically if you see what looks like 2 white TeePee tent cone shape plastic caps within it, you deffiently have a aps250.
Change power suppy and your have a working console
super cool. I will try that. But they are newer model though 3001A. I also suspect the power supply. But again being so new it is hard to imagine. I have send to someone for reflow and after reflow it could not be fixed. So two things left now. 1. either they are bricked which I highly doubt it as the seal is still intact not sure you can brick it that bad that it never powers up 2. bad power supply. Which could be possible. so what you are saying is change power supply to EADP 220BB
I tried 5 different power supplies with the same results. They all worked with working ps3 but this one same results. Shuts off immediately. Back to square one. Please help.
