My PS3 has started to give me trouble when I turn it on. Every time I start I have to go through the setup screen, screen resolution (using an HDMI cable), clock, internet set up – sometimes it takes a few resets until I get to this screen. Before this the screen is just blue or black – I have sound though.

Once it’s running everything is fine, until I turn it off and then I have to go back to the same thing unless it’s only been off for a minute or so then it starts normally.

Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this and how I could fix it?

ps3's have batteries on the motherboard just like a pc does to store bios, date, time settings and so on try changing it, most ps3's just use normal flat watch batteries but some of the old models have a special sony battery with a built on connector so you will have to buy one or gerry rig the connector to the batter
