    my ps3 slim turns off by itself after 10 minutes of being on. there are no beeps or aything and the only way to turn it on is to disconnect the power cord on the back and plugging it back in. is there any fix to this? i dont feel like buying a new ps3 ....model is cech 2001a. thanks

    try replacing the PSU. you gotta take it apart, and see what model power supply it is. then replace it.

    odd question but, what does it smell like just after it's switched itself off? Have a really good sniff at the air vents and around the power socket, does it smell burnt or odd at all?

    I'm pretty sure if that slim is one of the first 2 models that the Overcurrent set up inside the power supply have an incorrect setting as per default. I have a lot of those slim here an all have the same problem is an easy fix. Any question don't doubt of sending a PM.
