    I have just shorted my ps3 slim mainboard (i accidentally scratched my main board with a paper clip while it was plugged in the power and there was some spark) Now the ps3 won't even turn on or find any power i noticed it just beeps once within 10-15 min Need SOME ADVICE>



    RIGHT NOW ANY ADVICE IS GOOD ADViCE

    ANy help is appreciated

    Not sure what you were doing but take a multimeter and check the mini fuses to see if any power can travel through them, if you find one that is blown just (Not recommended) solder the 2 sides of the fuse together to complete that connection.


    Did this with a wii drive board once and it worked , but it also may cause more problems but you most likely blew a mini fuse because of your paperclip action.

    I'd check the fuse in the power cable (I know we have them in our 3 pin plugs) otherwise see if you can try a different power supply as you might have just ruined yours.

    Why, as an "Extreme noob" would you have your PS3 case off? and how in gods name do you "accidentally scratch" it with a paper clip!??

    Protip - unless you understand the electronics you're handling to the point where you could competently replace soldered/fixed components, don't mess with them.
    Hope to god your PS3 has blown fuses, otherwise, it's destroyed. But, that'll teach you not to mess with what you don't understand.
    Just be glad you didn't bridge the mains (the PS3s have internal AC adapters, which means that 110V-250V runs through there in some spots, so it would've been like you stuck your paper clip into a wall socket).
