I check in on PS3 development every year or so to see if real time save states have been implemented. That's the only thing holding me back from buying a PS3 tomorrow is the ability to make save states while in-game. Call it cheap, but I like to use save states on games like Disgaea where I just don't have the time to run the dungeon 6 times to unlock a specialist or somesuch.

Are there any PS3 firmwares that can take a save state? What would be required to make a separate, software hack or plugin to add save/load states to games? Any chance this could be made the development topic of a monthly contest? Hell, I'd pay someone to develop and demonstrate a working save state system if it doesn't exist but is feasible.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can give this some thought and let me know about feasibility or sets me straight that it already exists.

If this could be even possible, it would be very, *very* slow.
