PS3 dead, no power –
Hello, my PS3 slim recently died, there is no power at all. I tried to buy a new PSU, but got the same result. There is no light on the power switch and nothing happens when i push it. Anyone got any other suggestions to fix it ?
long shot but try turning it on without the top caseing on iv experienced a few slims that for some reason the top casing puts pressure on the psu and it shows no sign of life.
also don't rule out the fuse in the plug if you tried two psu's
another thing iv noticed on power issues take the power/eject board out and closely examine the ribbon cable for cracks corrosion and try cleaning the contacts on it
i know all the above sounds basic but some times we overlook the most obviouse problems.
unless you have a multi meter that's all the advise i have at the min
checked the power/eject ribbon and it looked damaged. I tried to fix it but it didn't work, ordered a new one of ebay, so hopefully my fix was bad
even without the power eject board working try inserting a disc that will bypass the power button I guess I should of suggested that befor you spent money on a new ribbon sorry
that worked, thanks!
what it worked when you inserted a disc? that's good then now im pretty sure its down to the ribbon cable if you don't want to wait for the new one to arrive you can make your own if you have any spare ribbon cables knocking about. just count how many contacts your cable needs (7 if memory serves) then get another ribbon cable and cut it with a scalpol so its only 7 contacts wide. hard to explain how to do it but quite easy to achive if you have a spare one from some thing like a blu ray drive any way glad to have helped
