PS3 blinking light codes
I have a ps3 slim cech3001a that is giving me a problem. It will turn on for about 3 or so seconds and then shut back off. I can press the power button after it shuts off and it will give me another standby light. press it again and it goes green again and then shuts off again with no light.
I did a fan test on it and the fan spins fast, lol. But right after the fan test it shut off and it is now giving me blinking lights that i assume are codes. But its giving me like 4 codes?
It blinks with 1 yellow light, then pause, then blinks 2 green 2 red, pause, 4 green then pause, 2 green and 2 red, pause, 1 green, 1 red, 2 green, pause, and then starts over from the beginning with the 1 yellow. Is are these just all the possible codes i can receive and i am receiving then because i just did the fan test?
And is there anything i can do about the only powering on for 3 seconds?
I already tried a new psu and it did not work, so im stumped.
any and all help is appreciated :)
yes they are codes, but i dunno if they are well documented as to what code means what. you can check out ps3devwiki and look, id give you a link but im in a hurry.
one thing you can do is ground out tristate pinout on the motherboard. just solder a wire from ground to the tristate point on the mobo. if it stays on it means its likely a software error. if it shuts off its more than likely a hardware related error.
i think this could also have something to do with syscon too maybe, but im not sure
Thank you for replying, I wish i knew what the codes meant myself. I have looked around online but it appears that like you say, the codes are not well documented.
I will try soldering a wire to that and put up an update tomorrow afternoon.
Just in case it is a software issue, what would i do about it?
having trouble finding the exact point im supposed to solder a wire to. Anybody able to help?
Ive been searching online alot today and i cant really figure out whether anyone diagrams are the same board as mine. I imagine every ps3 motherboard is not the same.
