PS3 backwards compatible with blueray playback prohibited problem will be fixed if i update to rogero 4.21? –
I have a Fat japanese bc Ps3 that i bought used which was downgraded using the 3.41 pup that killed blueray playback. I dont know which was the last blueray movie played or if a blueray movie was played at all. I read and used every solution on the net to fix this problem (downgrading to the minimum FW which in this case was 1.0 but according to what i read it is not possible go back further 2.8, enable debug update and play a blueray movie, replaced the original ocr files with uploaded by someone assuring that it could fix the problem, etc). The console now has 3.55 kmeaw and Im not sure if i should just update to 4.21 rogero or try another solution like remarrying the drive still on 3.55. Could someone please give me and advice?. I know that i could update to 4.21 test blueray playback and go back to 3.55 again to try another solution but i dont wanna mess with the internal memory.
Thanks for your help
I'd like to help, but I have never had any issues with the drive. But well, if I were you I guess I'd start with remarrying the drive, first, as it seems the most low-level approach and is therefore more likely to fix the issue.
i've never had any issues with bluray movies (once i got my drive working that is), but i am sure i read that the solution to this problem is to enter factory service mode, then play a blu ray film (preferably whichever is the most recent/latest release you can get hold of) and not to exit factory service mode until this is done. then when you exit fsm back to normal xmb, your blu rays should play back ok
