PS3 60GB YLOD repairs –
Hello all. I know YLOD repairs are all over the place, but a little backstory is necessary first.
A friend of mine owns a CECHA01 60GB BC PS3. He transferred all of his PS2 memory card game saves to the PS3 HDD using an adapter. Several months after that, the PS3 caught the dreaded YLOD and died. My friend's main concern is getting all of his game saves backed up.
I don't necessarily need to know how to repair the YLOD, but I can do that if needed. We already tried the hair dryer trick to no avail (probably because the ps3 didn't get hot enough). Is there any way to get the hard drive put into another PS3 without formatting? Is there a fullproof way to repair the YLOD? What other options do I have?
Thanks in advance.
Does your Friend have a Second PS3... Is it running CFW?

Unfortunately his CECHA01 isn't running CFW and neither is his new PS3 (he bought a slim that shipped factory above 3.55).
