Proper way to back up PSN games?
Proper way to back up PSN games? –
When upgrading your internal hard drive, will only backing up \GAMES\ and replacing this allow for a functional game, or should the entire contents of /dev_hdd0/ be moved?
Thats the problem im having. I have the pkg's of the games i purchased but there is apparently no way atm to put them on a new hdd without first activating them from the psn network. We cant do that though as it will ask us to update and thus lose the ability to run homebrew. Hopefully someone will come up with a way to get around that.

As long as your machine is one of the older 256MB NAND models, and you don't have to reinstall FW when you upgrade the drive, then you can simply run a total drive backup (XMB>System), then restore the backup on your new drive. I've done this and it kept all my PSN content without needing to go online.
HOWEVER! If your machine has the newer 16MB NOR (basically, if you need to reinstall the firmware when you change the drive) you WILL lose your PSN content when you update. I recommend using Team Rebug's xReg/EDAT Backup tool. No guarantees it will work though.
