Is possible a pkg security check?
Is possible a pkg security check? –

With many people creating homebrew appīs is not secure install anything from strange places, even secure have a minimal danger (remember the case of false psp emulator) then i was thinking on a possibility of a creation of a pc or ps3 app to check if the homebrew will be danger to the system before install it.
Developtors can tell if is possible.
Anyone?

it would be pretty easy to check if it's somewhat the correct format by finding similar strings (just by looking at the hex of that fake psp emu you can tell it's fake), but as far as execution it's practically impossible to tell if it's safe without the source.

Any noob way to analyze and discover it? or made a program to search destruct evil sentences in the code?

Very good idea, but may not be so simple.
Best way may be if a dev comes up with an app to create a Sandbox on the PS3 itself?
As for PC app, probably quite tricky, as a damaging app could easily include commands which appear harmless yet are very damaging (simple e.g. format!)

Yeap. But in the psp case, has a solution. My fear not is the fakes mess the system because a format and reinstall can solve this.
Thinking again, what i want really is something to avoid all appīs make changes to the firmware without my permission, because it is important to us. And too something to avoid changes that cannot be recover.
I think is time to think about it, i belive all want to fell your consoles safe.
for apps another idea, something like a recover to unmake changes, but is only a idea because i dont belive it can be done easy.
Maybe I are dreaming high but is good to me share this dreams, this raise the chances to make him true.

I never read up on how the psp emu bricked ps3s but if it wrote to the flash area or deleted some important files, maybe you could search for this somehow? Maybe you could make an app that virtually loads the app and checks for write attempts. Or maybe pkg files with write code have some sort of similar string you could search for? Just throwing my ideas out there : /

what we need is some sort of bootmii app like on the wii... something that can boot before the ps3 system does and then have full write ftp access so can just replace our fukd flash with the 1 we backed up....?
i have no idea how hard this would be or if even possible just an idea

There's two ways to do this. The first VERY easy way is to make sure that the homebrew is confirmed to be good by other sources, and they you're getting it from a reputable source. The second in to run the hombrew while having the dev_flash loaded from a USB drive. That way, if it tries to screw anything up, it'll just mess up the dump on the flash drive.
