Is it possible to patch controller support ourselves?
Is it possible to patch controller support ourselves? –
I'm at the end of my tether with GH products. Over the years, I've had several drum sets and they've all developed faults. When I got my electronic set, I threw away my GH kit except for the drum module/brain, which has a MIDI input so that I can play with my proper electronic set. That's finally drawn it's last breath and I can now only play Rock Band with my drum kit - I have the Rock Band MIDI Pro adaptor (which I've never had a problem with) that lets me play those games.
When my drum module gave out, I e-mailed Activision and asked if there would be a patch for any GH games to bring support for the MIDI Pro adaptor. They said that development had stopped, so any compatibility patches would be unlikely. Which brings me back to the point of the topic. How difficult would it be to map the MIDI Pro adaptor to behave like the GH controller? At the moment when you plug it in, GH thinks it's a standard PS3 controller and asks you to connect a microphone.
I realize it might not be a popular request, but I'd still be interested to know if it's possible and perhaps what work would be involved.
Incredibly difficult if it is even possible.
Just buy a new GH drum module or usb to midi cable. You can find them on ebay for less than $10. Search for Guitar Hero midi.
