Did you hold the power button till it started up and then shut down, then hold it again until you hear two consecutive beeps and release the power button to get into recovery mode? That will reset video, select "Restart System".
Also try, in recovery mode
"Restore Default Settings",
then "Restore File System",
then "Rebuild Database" or
"System Update".
With system update start by installing OFW3.55, if that works go back to CFW3.55.
Always check MD5 so that you don't accidentally update to the wrong firmware version!!!
OFW 3.55 Sony md5: ca595ad9f3af8f1491d9c9b6921a8c61
CFW 3.55 kmeaw md5: 2be5e87a22bf1e7f48e98fcabd38977b
Also if using HDMI try switching to the composite (red, white, yellow) cables and switch you TV to AVI.
I have had video issues when a friend came over with his PS3 that was always connected to a SD TV, when trying to connect it to my HD TV it would not give sound or a picture and I messed with it for over an hour. Sometimes the PS3 can get a little confused. Usually handshake issue with HDMI.
If none of this works it must be some sort of hardware failure. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately not. Usually when the PS3 encounters a hardware failure it YLOD's which is not happening in your case. Maybe someone else might have some other ideas?
