Playstation 3 40 gb Problems!

I just bought a broken PS3. The guy said it would turn on and then shut off. Well when I got it I tried it out. It would power on after flipping the switch I would get the red light on front. It did not blink or anything. I would hit the touch power button and it would not work it all. The eject button made the beeps but nothing was happening in the drive. So I took the ps3 apart and it has been tooken apart before. I took the blu-ray drive out and the big silver ribbon connect was not connected to the blu ray drive. I have looked this drive over and over for where it connects on the blu ray board and there is no where to hook it up. Its a BMD-031 Board. I'm not sure if this is just the totally wrong board and drive for this 40gb playstation? Or what the problem is. I need some help on how or where this ribbon hooks to the drive. Thanks.

Another note. This is a fat version. I have seen some 40 gb ps3s that have the blu ray drive that the silver ribbon plugs right into the board on the drive however this one is totally different than those ones. The board is on the inside of the blu-ray and it doesnt have the plug in.

Another edit is the serial number is cechh01 2007 model. Any Help would be great!!

Sorry to tell you but you answered your own question. "I just bought a broken Ps3"

Just sell it for parts you bought a problem to begin with. It could be a number of things that is wrong with the ps3. The buyer can tell you anything to make a sale...

But like I said it can be anything... just save yourself the time and just get rid of it.

Yes, But I have bought 2 playstation 3s for 20 dollars. Both in which do not work. They will power on though. I was just wanting some info on how to maybe fix these issues. I can and probably will resell them if they are totally not fixable. But seeming to me the only problem with this one is the blu ray drive in which i can get one for about 20-50 dollars depending on which one I need. So if I can get this one to work in which im pretty good with electronics on fixing them. I just need some knowledge on these blu ray drives like I described in the first post. Thanks.

Darn I been looking for someone to donate some broken PS3's to me so I could work one together to make a working one since mine I had burned out and is useless.
I been going crazy here with no way to play any of my 13 games and I need another PS3.

I could fix one if you want to donate those PS3's to me. I can't afford to buy any since I have no income and am Disabled.

Please let me know if you want to get rid of them.
