Newbie to PS3 Jailbreaking but please .. HELP. –
So I have a PS3 Phat 40GB , With 3.55 CFW.
Well my problem is , I feel a framerate drop .. I mean while playing the game the whole time , Its not running on 30 or 60 fps . Everytime I play my games its so laggy . Its no as smooth as it should be and NO its not from bad dev. One of my game is FF13 , the cg cutscene is okay but when it comes to in game cutscene it lags .. and onto the gameplay too . The only game that is running so smoothly on me was Tekken 6 . (
Please HELP me.
I made a backup of Final Fantasy XIII to the internal drive and it played fine - I actually own that disc. Imagine that. I know that there's a problem with some hard drives lagging during FMV because of a technical problem that you can't do anything about unless you replace the hard drive. They're cheap these days so you might want to look into that. Do you have that problem playing games from an external drive?
i am completely new to this and i have a new ps3 with 3.70 firmware and wanted to know how and if i could use multiman just to back up my games to play them because i have kids and my games will get ruined , i could use any help that i can get , thanks
There's a couple things you need to do to see if it will be worth it for you to install custom firmware so you can play backups. Since you're above 3.55, you need to type in your model number + base firmware into google. If it's 3.56 or above, then don't waste your time - you're out of luck for now. If it's 3.55 or lower then read up on the E3 Flasher. It will let you downgrade your console so you can install custom firmware, then multiman so you can play backups
I have this same console and had the same issue the problem is that the HDDs that come with the ps3 are very slow at reading and writing data. I was not sure if its because they are only 5,400 RPM or the fact that they are using more then one plater on such a small HDD so i swapped HDDs with a drive i pulled from a busted netbook. what i did was swap the original HDD for a western digital notebook drive the BEVS/BEVT blue scorpio series to be exact. if you're thinking of doing this and have game saves then get a USB HDD or flash drive and back up your data first with the back up utility (it even backs up homebrew and backed up games) then restore them onto the new hdd.

Also not listed but i did some digging and the seek time is 16ms for the original drive and the drive i'm using now is 12ms. all these number may seem small but made a huge difference in the reading and writing speed when loading and saving games.
