the updates just seem to "jump" for lack of a better word from around 64 65% to 100%. what is not being updated. i'm using s BDB (Bluray Drive Bypass) firmware. i'm at my wits end here as i can install CFW for 3.55 but cant run any pkg once they install because of this.

You've probably already tried but are you installing 3.55OFW first then Kmeaw3.55 through recovery mode. I've swapped Firmwares alot lately, from inside XMB, from recovery and through QA Flagging. The update always goes from 64% to 100% then exits XMB and goes to a black screen with a blue wave and asks you to press the ps button, is it getting that far? And are you sure you need Blueray bypass firmware?

In my past experience, it would always "jump" when updating. I believe for me it would always be at 36%(I forgot since its been forever since I've seen a PS3
) It jumped no matter what I was updating to and from:
OFW->OFW
CFW->CFW
CFW-OFW etc...
I just think it's just the way the PS3 does it? Unsure whether or not the percentage shown when updating is up to date. So I don't think it skips anything when it jumps from somewhere to 100%

Like Pretzel729 said, it always skips at certain points. In normal circumstances when you update through XMB it will skip from 64% to 100% then exit to a recovery type of state and go up to 35% and exit and it's done. That's when installing a firmware at the same level though. There's really no way of telling the progress, time wise, by looking at the percentage. Different task take different amounts of time, some take ages and some dont need to be done.

I've done most of the updates i've tried through recovery. and in both instances it jumps from 65% to 100% but here lies the problem some thing is keeping me from loading ANYTHING and i mean ANYTHING nothing loads after i install its pkg it just goes to a black screen and nothing else happens. i have to hard reset to make it reboot

Also i was just told in the other forum that my problem with loading pkgs could be that my BD board is not the one that was married to the motherboard however this doesn't make sense they have a BDB firmware which completely bypass the bluray drive firmware update for people with NO drive at all so how are these people getting pkgs to load
