Sanity check time here... Couple of observations:

    1) There is a new lv2 (lv2-v2) that allows loading of a payload externally - Hopefully, Backup Managers that integrate this feature allow you to select the payload, as well as undo it.

    2) There is no Hermes 4b for 3.55. The offsets need to be changed or perhaps there is more extensive stuff that needs to be done. It would be nice if Waninkoko concentrated on correcting the Hermes payload for the lv2 patch, rather than work on firmware.

The source is really useful to people maintaining the existing backup managers.
Working hard on UberCFW, incorporating NTFS, sub-free NetFlix and Blockbuster, PSN cheat system with built-in swearbot and MAC-spoofing, Adding MKV, RAM and BIK movie support, and Xbox360 emu*.

*not really. Get a life, newbs...

Make sure you butter the non reflective side of your CD's / DVD's and Blu-Rays so that when you drop them, they land butter side down thus preventing scratches.

i seriously recommend not using lvl2 patches and try to find the switches in eboot for setting gameos priviledge rather then directly poke the memory which can and will be different along firmware versions and model versions.

There are major problems with this. Most games are designed to run from the Blu-Ray drive... sections are hard coded for this. Recreating the jailbreak is currently the best, most compatible means to allow the backups to run without issues. Modifying EBOOTs has worked for what percentage of games, exactly? 5%? 10%? It's inverse the number of games that work with Hermes 4b, and there's no point in doing backups if they don't work.

As for the values changing, so what? That only means we'll have different payloads for different versions. This is extremely simple to implement.

I really can't understand the mentality of telling anybody one method is useless and should be completely ignored, particularly when they don't understand key issues. The scene should move forward with the Lv2 patching (which now has the benefit of being temporary) AND finding ways to increase compatibility by modifying EBOOTs. When you get anything over 80% compatibility with modified EBOOTs, feel free to raise the point again - until then, let's get the scene moving in the right direction, with the right priorities. That's COMMON SENSE.

    Hi there guys,

    I have a question.

Themaister has been bereft of his TI-84 calculator. We were wondering if it were possible to use the Lv2 patcher to load a payload and essentially get all the functionality that was provided to us with a jailbreak.

Now, while we can program, it is kinda hard to find adequate answers to questions like this on development forums - so I would appreciate it if somebody could answer this for me.

I tried booting Lv2 patcher in non-JB mode (3.41) and loading the PL3 payload that came as part of the Lv2 patcher - I noticed the following:

    1) There was no 'Install Package' option
    2) Unsigned apps still did not run.

Is the payload the cause of this, or are we totally barking up the wrong tree? Is this stuff only useful for people on CFW 3.55? Is what we want to do with it not possible?

PS. Also, we signed PS3Load and that did not run either - either unjailbroken/jailbroken or unjailbroken with the lv2 patcher and loading the PL3 payload.

    You don't have peek/poke in non-JB mode (3.41) so Lv2 patcher won't work.
