kakaroto latest post and digital signing question
So, i've read all the info on the ECDSA algorithm and it confirmed what i thought i new, that it's a very hard nut to crack.
anyway, what i dont get is this. There are private keys that are known, and they're not blacklisted since you can run original software on the consoles without having to install patches
any game from the first version of the ps3 fw still works, yet all the homebrew that is signed with these keys are blocked with a a more recent fw...why? cause even though the private keys where used to sign files, the signature was still not perfect? Whats missing there?
somewhat (un)related question, i though Graf had a way to disable the blueray drive encryption, should that not allow the running acuratly signed ELF files from burned blueray disks?
