Jailbreak and internet connection?

I have the Maximus AVR USB and it works fine, i want to use the ftp server. but am not sure if its safe to connect my ps3 to my router when there is intenet connected. do PSgroove block the auto fw updating by sony, and what if my console reststart in normal mode.????

When setting up your internet connection, plug a bunch of random numbers into the Proxy Server option. That way you can still access your PS3 on your local network, but if the PS3 tries to make an internet connection, it will try to connect to the proxy (which is bogus) and never be able to make it out of your network
