Why not a virtual device driver capable of redirecting via a config file or deduct the path from the current context (elf).
That's exactly what I was thinking
I believe there is some security check which we weren't able to bypass.. but now we could made it (there are people who have already studied how the ps3 structure work)
Well, I've been trying to look up for the topic in which Dean proposed this (Dean, the developer of multiman, am I right?) but I can't find it.
EDIT: found your post on: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f149/pos...34/#post675037 (Is it possible to create a symbolic link on the PS3 drive?)
By the way, the scene looks paralyzed by the legal things happening
Sony just wanted to temporary stop devs' work imho
Theorically, a custom firmware that:
at boot time mount dev_bdvd as dev_dvd2 or something like that.
Then a virtual device driver mount dev_bdvd and it only forwards the calls to /dev_dvd2.
This virtual device driver could have a custom command capable of redirecting to other devices/paths or back to original dev_dvd2.
Hmm,
basicly you even don´t need to code alot, there is a bd emulator in the debug FW. On Rebug i think it is enabled. I don´t know if that can be somehow transfered to a newer FW.
and it seems to be present also on rebug
Rebug Settings « Codename: Rebug
• Blu-ray Disc Access
Choose the Blu-ray disc type of access.
- “BD Emulator (DEV)” : Use the internal hdd for the BD-Emulator. (Reference Tools only)
- “BD Emulator (USB)” : use an usb hdd formatted for the BD-Emulator.
- “BD Drive” : use the Blu-Ray Disc drive
WOW! Diskless gaming doesn't look that impossible now
