Installing PKG file

Hello PSX,

I got myself a PS3 for some time now, the 80gb version. And now I was curious if it is possible to play the GTA San Andreas PS2 version on my PS3. I already did some research on the internet, and got my self the .pkg file of PS2 Data System (because it wasn't available on PSN anymore).

But the problem now, how the hell do I get this file installed on my ps3? I tried with all my USB sticks and PS3 Media Server. But my PS3 just doesn't show me this Installing Package.. map thing, as supposed to.

So, is it even possible for me to install this PKG file without jailbreaking, because the ps3 is fulling standard. No jail breaking atm!

Hope anyone can help me out with this.

No to install .pkg files you need a jailbreak dongle or Custom Firmware

Oke, but can I jailbreak my PS3 only for installing PKG. And then de-jailbreak it again. So I can still go on psn?

First if your on 3.56 Official Firmware or over you need to buy hardware and open your console to downgrade to 3.55 to jaibreak. You can jailbreak and install the package but it's doubtful the package will work after updating to 3.73

Yes, I run the latest update. So It won't be possible to jailbreak my system at the moment?

You cannot jailbreak anything past 3.55, in the future maybe but for know it isnt possible

sorry bud.. latest update 3.73.. just hang tight.. no CFW now but there might be later..
