Would it be possible to have the PS3 search for Plugins on USB000 similar to how the PSP was able to search for and load Plugins on ms0:\seplugins\?
I think it would solve a lot of problems and bring forth a whole new scene of development.

Some PSP plugins that I think could be useful on PS3:
    PsnLover.prx (Get back onto PSN)
mp3Lite.prx (Play stored music, at any time, even in-game)
    Screenshot.prx (Take screen shot)
M33_620.prx (Play games requiring a higher firmware than what you have)
    CXMB.prx (Use a custom XMB)
ISOloader.prx (Display backed-up games on XMB, Under games)
I forgot the name of the last one but it baiscally loads vsh\resource files from the ms0 instead of flash0

But like I said before... How likely is it to have Plugins on PS3?

    Edit:
I think the main reason PSP hacking was so successful was because of Plugins.
I've been on 5.00 M33-6 forever and never even considered updating because I always knew a plugin would solve whatever problem arose,
Even now that 6.20 TN-B is out I still rely on plugins to match its capabilities.
Why can we add that peace of mind to the PS3?

You forgot Cwcheat and PSPState, Categories isn't necessary since the PS3 can assign them, though the PSP method was prettier.

I think it'll be a long time before we see plugins on the PS3, mainly because all the dev's that could pull it off are anit-piracy to the max. For every Dark_Alex you have a Math. Once the challenge of opening the system for Linux is over, pirate programmers will take over since the honest devs arn't interested in furthering the systems pirate capabilities.

That is when you will start seeing things like plugins and NPDRM keys being released.

If you're wondering why the honest devs are not making plugins a priority, it's quite simple. A plugin would make finding keys trivial and lead to more rampant cheating and save scumming. For every up there is a down.

I for one look forward to plugins on the PS3. The Screen Shot one is great, though if I remember correctly it only worked in game. I haven't check on it since back then, does it do XMB screen shots yet?

I also wish someone would have made a SaveState for POPS. Some Playstation games are not portable friendly.
