go to revoery mode and try some of the options there :-
How to get the Recovery Menu on your PS3 - YouTube
step 1 take your hard drive out and plug it to your computer
step 2 reformat it and put it back in your ps3
step 3 ps3 automatic formats the drive back to ps3 format
step 4 load a custom firmware or orignal and the red screen should be off then i did this about 12 times already = to different ps3 fat and slim consoles
downgrading should help yes.. but i have a slim version with 3.70.. so there is no option to downgrade.. tried every thing.. also differnt hdd.. there is no warranty for my ps3.. so hope i can fix it in the near future..
If the issue is with the NAND/NOR, you have to use a hardware flasher to remap bad blocks AFAIK.
not necessarily,
I too suffered the red screen of death with access to the recovery menu, it turned out that, for whatever reason, my hard drive would never let the update finish all the way. once i switched hard drives the ps3 was able to install firmwares properly and ultimately fixed the RSOD.
I tried another hdd.. the ps3 formatted it.. and updated the firmware.. dont know if it was finished.. but still the red screen.. i have to update to 3.70..

I am searching for some things to save my ps3.. with a nor flasher lin progskeet, can i remap the block? i really new to this.. but reallt going to try.. if this works.. i can also dualboot and downgrade..
If you fixed the PS3 by swapping the HDD, it means the issue wasn't in the NAND/NOR
I really barely know anything, so can't help you, but I believe this is possible with progskeet. They have an IRC channel, I think it's #progskeet-support on efnet. You could go there and ask for help.
