QA flag your PS3 and set System Update Debug on the debug menu to On. However even though the options appear, you cannot select them.
You'd have to get your PS3 converted to debug I guess, and I wouldn't recommend doing so.
Why would you even want to do that anyway?

my ps3 is already flagged and on rebug i activated system debug update. but somehow this option isn't available on rebug 3.55.1. only on 3.55.2. i assume the qa-flag enabled this?

btw, this option works great on rebug or the nfw. it takes an additional step (copy to system update folder) but this is way faster than from flash drive and much more comfortable. too bad that there is still no downgrade from xmb...

Oh... so that's why that option was greyed for me. I wonder how Debug console owners copy the updates to the HDD though o.o I doubt they use multiman. LOL
Also, yes, 3.55.1 and 3.41.2 aren't fully compatible with the QA flag.

ah, that's the point. ok. thank you.

to use this option you must select update through xmb and then select with a device. now when you can select the pup file there is a box down under which you have to tick "copy update to hdd". now the pup file gets copied to dev_hdd0/updater and you can update with this pup anytime through xmb without using any flashdrive. you can even copy as many pups as you want to harddisk.
