Help me fix the blueray drive

The optical drive in my PS3 is partially broken, the easiest way to correct it would be to replace the drive board.

few things before I go out and find me a replacement,

First I do not know what this means

This will make sure the drive init PUP is not installed, thus preventing RLOD because of syscon hashes on downgraded consoles.

Second I do not know what this is

service mode JIG/dongle/PSGrade

IS this something else I much purchase? I already have a Teensy 2.0 if this somehow helps.

Once I get that sorted out I would not know what hole I'm suppose to stick it in thats what she said because

to me is jibberish since I don't know what they mean by "the reader"

First, I would recommend you reading again and carefully the whole tutorial because is really clear, even for non native english speakers like me. Ask to some of your friends in case you are unable to understand everything. I`m gonna try to answer your questions:

this part of the cfg file should appear exactly like this to avoid syscon problems:

You can use any of these options to put your console in factory service mode. If your console has kmeaw 3.55, use the factory service mode.pkg in case you dont have one of these dongles.

plug the dongle in the usb port of your ps3 closest to the blueray drive (where you insert your games).

One last question, is there anything in particular I should look for in the replacement board as far as drive compatibility might go.

well I have hit a bit of a snag http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/hel...o-kind-108597/ (Help me get started if you would be so kind) is what I did to my console firmware wise

so now I would like to use this factory servace mode program but with the problem I do not know what reDRM CEX or DEX means and therefor do not know witch package I am suppose to install

This app will not work on any of the "reDRM" firmwares, aka Cobra or TrueBlue CFW.

1. Install the appropriate pkg for your system; FactoryServiceMode.gnpdrm.pkg for CEX and
FactoryServiceMode.pkg for DEX.

so witch version of the program am I to insall?

well I have only one of the package files will install so I guess FactoryServiceMode.pkg was correct but I cannot use this to remerry my drive due to the fact that I cannot load any programs with the new controller board installed till after its been remerryed because no program will start up as long as an unmerryed drive is attached

edit: actually it turns out no program will boot unless an authenicated drive has been connected to the ps3, hmm anybody ever tryed hot swaping with this method?

edit2: well if you remove the authenticated drive in the main menu programs will no loner boot up so if hot swaping would have a chance of working it would have to be done in factory servace mode i'll update you on how that goes later

well OK I have found out that I can use my teensy 2.0 to enter factory service mode so I assume once I get the hex for that flashed into it all my problems are solved.

hmm, appertly it exists or at least I think so but I cannot seem to find the updated hex file appropriate for 3.55
