Graf Decryption for YLOD Recovery?
Graf Decryption for YLOD Recovery? –

Hi,
I'm a noob when it comes to any kind of PS3 modding, but I got the dreaded YLOD and have been searching for a way to save my hundreds of hours of save data from my dead PS3. Could graf's decryption method allow me to decrypt my current HDD to work with a new PS3? If so, how would I go about doing so?
Thanks in advance and let me know if this is the wrong place to be directing these questions.

No, graf's tool that your talking about doesn't decrypt the hdd it's a patch that disables encryption so you would have had to enable the patch before creating the data you want to save.

So then could I extract the encrypted files from my dead PS3's HDD, run graf's tool on my new PS3 to disable encryption, and then put the encrypted old data on my new PS3's HDD?
Thanks for the help.

No you wont be able to save your old ps3's data using graf's tool. The tool doesn't decrypt data, it only tells the ps3 not to encrypt new data. Basically if your ylod ps3 doesn't boot up to the xmb then there is no way to access the data on that hdd, sorry.

best option might be to reflow and grab the data before it ylod's again
