EEPROM hardware flashing?
EEPROM hardware flashing? –

I thought if anyone knows where the EEPROM of the PS3 is located on the motherboard, we could flash it through an EEPROM Flasher and could do some fancy things like getting in/out of service mode in >3.55. I´ve looked at some PS3 Board Service Manuals and also at some motherboards, but the interesting IC's just have the names SCEI - random Number.

As I understand it:
The EEPROM is on-package on SYSCON. The EEPROM is accessed through an SPI bus to SYSCON, which controls EEPROM.
There's some information here SC EEPROM - PS3 Development Wiki

At this layout you could see the pipes from/to the IC. (lower right corner)
Maybe we could flash the EEPROM through them directly.

you can r/w from lv2 but only to certain addresses, lv1 you can do whatever you want through certain syscalls. It's not really that interesting unless you're 'fuzzing' or using the 8th SPU to DMA to avoid lv1 security checks in a certain loader-loader.
