Communication Methods/Protocols for PSN?
Communication Methods/Protocols for PSN? –
I've tried a browse around the forums, registering and using the search function, however I still can't find quite what I need to know.
I'm only really here to ask a few questions regarding PSN.
What protocol does the PSN primarily use when authenticating users and accessing different parts of the system, what kind of an infrastructure does it all have?
Does it authenticate through the Web (HTTP/HTML) protocol and then use different communication protocols for different areas (such as the friend system)?
I just need to get a fairly good idea of the ways that data is passed from users to the network and back.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
From what I know, it uses mostly XML over HTTPS, the friends/chat system uses a custom implementation of the XMPP protocol. There are some details on the wiki here. Unfortunately, since CFW no longer works on the PSN our ability to sniff traffic is gone and there is not alot of information on the subject.
