If someone makes a PKG file for some game, is there a way to first open the pkg and extract the data and then reverse the EBOOT.BIN back to a .ELF

I'm talking of course of the BDVD to PSN game convert. I also wondered if there was a way to undo Geohot's patch as well.

I'm asking because Valarnin and I are working on a program/script respectively that does the conversion and we want to know how people got some of these games working, but hunting down the users is a bit of a pain. If there isn't a way to extract a pkg then how would I reverse the BIN to an ELF?

I got the decrypter and it works great.

Is there a way to undo a make_self_npdrm?

I tried unself but I get this warning
    Code:
    C:\ps3tools>unself EBOOT.BIN EBOOT.ELF
    invalid type: 00000008
    perror: No error

    C:\ps3tools>

not at this time, which makes launching games from XMB pretty useless since you can not extract an .elf from EBOOT (to edit the paths) for a game that has released an update through PSN. Most games are buggy has hell when released and the updates make them playable

Isnt it just possible to install the npdrm pkg on an jailbroken 3.55 via install pkg and than just ftp over it's contents?

The NPDRM (PSN content) decrypting keys and tools have not been released. I thought that update running would just be a matter of installing them as normal (with the game's main EBOOT.BIN in a custom GAMEID folder), but then I guess the EBOOT.BIN of the update looks for the BDVD drive.

Ah, so the EBOOT.BIN is encrypted with these NPDRM keys aswell?
    That would make sense...

    What about debug updates?

Sorry for being stupid, but the whole thing around keys and stuff is getting a bit confusing since 27c3...

Debug updates work fine (just like how they saved us with higher firmware games before we could hack EBOOTs).

If the SELF is encrypted with geohot's NPDRM utility, you *can* decrypt it, it's just that no utilities are using this 'hardcoded' and 'hacky' key yet.
