Happy to hear, is it taking disks in now? You have to reset the whole drive to think it's not got a disk inserted (by unscrewing the motor and re-aligning everything), or you can insert an old scratched CD to line everything up as it was, then plug back into your PS3 and press eject to spit out the tester disk and see if there are any weird noises etc. It can take a lot of fiddling, but once it's fixed, works perfect.
I slide the tester disk into the top half of the drive, tape it in place (gently, so it's easy to release it) and line up the bottom half's cogs and place both sides back together. Then remove the tape holding the disk. Power on and try to eject it.
Best advice I read was when putting the drive back together, don't force it, because something might not be sitting in just right.
I didn't link to those Blue prints on purpose, not sure of their legality.
oralphie: Will this allow chuck norris to play backups??? PLZ HELP!!!
