    The original thread Warren started is here http://psx-scene.com/forums/f149/blu...-55-cfw-74794/ (BluRay Drive bypass 3.55 CFW) , you can find many explanations on how to run the firmwares, first read that post if you have questions.

    I dont want the credits, i am thankfull to Warren who started that thread and made it possible to unbrick a ps3 with a faulty logicboard or broken bluray, and made a guide for other to make there own BDB firmware, but i decided to put all links together and start a new thread.
    I hope Warren returns to his own thread , not seen him for weeks there

    This is just the basic release and will update as more firmwares and features are added to Kaks or Geohots Firmwares.

    This hopefully with allow users to update without a BD drive.

    This pups of warren are not original, they are already patched with the geohotpatch, you can use them to unbrick or come out of that loop.

    ================================================== ==========

    Now in steps, we try this first if you are in a loop.

    1. Power of the console, no lights on.

    2. Take the HDD out the console

    3. Put HDD on youre pc ( get a housing for it and usb it on youre pc something like this EXAMPLE ), i had mine for 10 euro, after the fix you can always use it, i bought a hdd for it 320gig for 40 euro , (or put it in a laptop if it fits, format it there , and take it out )

    4. Get somekind of program for formatting the HDD , i used EASEUS Partition Master, format the HDD in ntfs and use primary.

    5. Put the HDD back in the console, dont turn it on yet.

    6. Take a USBstick, and format it to fat32 ,

    7. Make a folder on the root of the usbstick named PS3, open that folder, and make in that folder , the folder UPDATE, in that folder UPDATE you put the firmware of this link DBD 3.55 File name: 3,55fwBDB.rar File size: 171.15 MB, only the pup named PS3UPDAT.PUP in that folder UPDATE, so its PS3/UPDATE.

    8. Put the usbstick in the right usb port of youre console, nothing else in the other ports.

    9. Power it on and keep the button pushed till it beeps 2 times, then release, try again if it beeps one time and goes to xmb, or beeps once and goes off.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZWye1CLTVo"]YouTube - How to come in recovery mode![/ame]

    If it beeps 2 times and you release button , then after a few seconds it asked for a connected controller, then you can choose the update option.

    Hope it works if not try in the loop to remove the HDD, format it and put it back then try the firmware again in recovery mode, try different firmware, maybe the one you had last, but use always the BDB versions.

    After installing the ofw 3.55BDB fw you want to try the custom firmwares, install those ones same way or thru factory mode, for me it didnt worked on the normal way thru xmb menu.
    ps remember you always need the BDB versions to update or downgrade thru recovery or factory mode or if you use the others you get a loop on 76 %,or get a red screen because of the check for a good working bluray logic board, it will only work when install thru recovery menu, most of the times it says the pup is damaged when you try to do it thru the xmb menu.

    ================================================== ====================

    YOu can make a BDB firmware by yourself, its easy if you follow warren guide and the links to the keys. Only need a ofw firmware of sony.

    I used the package from warren from his guide

    Download this BDB package: PS3-BDB-Package.zip

    The Guide Warren wrote to patch a CFW http://tinyurl.com/WarrenBDBtut

    Guide warren https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...OLxm4wC&pli=1#

    You must put your keys in: "C:/PS3/.ps3"
    You can't rename a folder with a "." at the beginning of the name, so you must download a pack with a folder already named and extract it in your home (c:/PS3 in your case).

    pS3KEYS ---> File name: PS3.7z File size: 4.98 MB thanks to diesel701
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Use this to patch the KMEAW or use the latest GAIA , update youre lv2 here everytime, its version 5 already http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/kmeaw...-update-77569/ (Kmeaw lv2 Patcher Update)

    IF you use the latest Gaia you dont need to patch with the lv2 patcher everytime you start youre console http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/gaia-...v2-06-a-77161/

    Install this one same way or thru factory mode, for me it didnt worked on the normal way thru xmb menu.
    ps remember you always need the BDB versions to update or downgrade thru recovery or factory mode or if you use the others you get a loop on 76 %,or get a red screen because of the check for a good working bluray logic board, it will only work when install thru recovery menu, most of the times it says the pup is damaged when you try to do it thru the xmb menu.

    When nothing else help for coming out of a loop of bricking red screens you can try this on own risk.

    I read this somewhere i didnt test -->
    IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED IT AND IT IS IN THE UPDATE LOOP THE FIX IS BELOW.. NO DATA WILL BE LOST

    While the hard drive is out let the PS3 boot back up. it will give you a message to press the PS button to re-start the update process again or press start and select with the controller plugged in and the USB drive attached with the update.

    Plug in your USB drive, and press start and select. As soon as you press those buttons push the drive back into place, and the machine will install the firmware you have on your usb drive.

    For downgrading and updating with a jailbroken ps3 i used the self from here, i dont know how to hide the link if its forbidden i delete it.

    Lv2diag_355.zip

    And i use the 3,55 of this thread. first put self one with the pup on the root of youre usbstick , go in jailbreak downgrade mode, if you use a jb methode, then it loads the pup, ps3 must go out after a 3minutes then you empty the usbstick and put the self from file 2 on it , back in ps3 and push on button, after 10 seconds ps3 must go out and then when you start xmb must be back.

    FOR ps3keys --> http://psx-scene.com/forums/690432-post10.html (Can't roll back to OFW 3.41) there is a downgrade bin for the ps3key .

    Hope this helps

    thank you,

    i find it handy, everything on one place , and keep it updated. I think many users with this problem find it nice to see everything on one place, they must do that in every section, make a sum of everything of the same order.

    hope it become a sticky.

    if someone have tips or hints for a better first post, i am open for suggestions.

    I keep it updated with new firmwares, made by other users or me, and with news that is inportant.

    Thanks for this thread. I had been looking for a BDB-patched version of kmeaw's CFW, and this made it easy to find (and OFW 3.55 BDB, also).

    Now I just need .pkg files to be able to run, and my ps3 is useful again!

    Also, you may want to use a different upload service for some of the files, or offer mirrors (or use multiupload). I say this because for users who need 3.55 OFW BDB and kmeaw BDB, you have to wait 10 minutes between the downloads.

    Anyway, thanks again!

    excellent thread....took me reading multiple threads to understand what was going on with my ps3....prob a whole day of reading to now i know mostly everything whats going on.
    how long you guys think they would take to release a hack/patch so pkgs would run without the bluray drive/logic board?

    this must not be such a big deal, i waited 9 hours to upload them

    you upload to somewhere else then i use that as a mirror, then you help.

    ok, i have a problem. I was on 3.55 geohot, then i went to go back to 3.55 OFW, and now my ps3 is stuck in an update loop. I read somewhere that it might be because i have a hardware malfunction (which i do, the blu ray eye doesnt work, this is the only reason i wanted to JB my console). It said that the only way to fix this is to fix the hardware problem, which would mean getting a new eye, which would defeat the entire purpose of JB'ing the console.

    Now, i think could simply swap out drives with my new ps3 (i bought a new 320g model when my old 120g slim's eye broke), but that would void the warranty, and i wouldnt want to do that.

    can someone tell me if this would help me? cuz from what i read it seems like its exactly what i need, but i think im too late because im just stuck... it stops the update around 50%
