BLU RAY REMARRY PROBLEM! PLEASE HELP
BLU RAY REMARRY PROBLEM! PLEASE HELP –
ok if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it. a while back when this whole remarry thing came out i bought a new ps3 blu ray drive for a 20 gb launch model. it wasn t reading discs anymore.
i bought the drive that was for my model. I did the whole remarry process it went through successfully just like in all the videos. drive initialize passes. but it wouldn t play games. only data discs. it was a brand new working blu ray drive. So i obviously can t play homebrew or backups off hdd without a drive that can read a ps3 game disc.
homebrews would just black screen. the disc never really spins i hear the fan go for a sec and then stops. disc never gets read. can anybody give me any advice on what to do. I didn t know what else to do but buy a new controller board, but i lost interest due to frustration. does anyone know what i can do. i just want it as a backup for my working 3.55 cfw ps3. blu ray playback isnt a priority. thanks for your time everyone.

hmm, maybe you used firmware with disabled bd check for update or ribbon cable is faulty. Try runnig homebrew with *ONLY* logic board connected
well i ve tried it on 3.15 firmware and 2.30 firmware drive initialization passes always but discs wont read and homebrew is black screen. i doubt that both firmwares were bd disabled. i mean this is so annoying everyone is getting it to work now for months and i can t get it to work. i dnt see any tears or rips in my ribbon. what will running it with only the logic board tell me.
copypaste from stock2255 post "With just main ribbon cable from ps3 to logic board (blue end) homebrew and backup managers would launch without issue. Some games would work disc-less, but majority would go back to XMB.
If you plug in any of the other ribbon cables, besides just the main blue one, ps3 would freeze upon loading any kind of homebrew. This doesn't change if theres 2, 3, 4, etc. plugged in.
Once you go ahead and plug every ribbon cable in for blu-ray drive and logic board, all homebrew will load successfully, and problem games I mentioned above will play without any issues. I'm currently playing LA Noire disc-less of my internal hard drive.
In other words, you cannot remove the entire blu-ray drive from the ps3 and leave just the logic board. All connectors from the blu-ray drive must be connected in order to maintain disc-less compatibility.
Hope this helps someone."
i m confused by the above post. I tried disconnecting the drive from the logic board and only plugged in the the big main ribbon. i got a black screen trying to run a psn game from xmb. so does that mean i need a new logic board. if that is the case why does it say drive initialization passed every time.
not sure i dnt know but wouldn t it fail initialization if my logic board was dead. if it is dead getting my board replaced (bmd-001) and then do the remarry crap again would i be good to go then. thanks for your replies shuma. i m pretty tech savy. but i dnt know any of this hardcore type of stuff. i m good enough to take everyones directions but i can only do what i m told, dn t know this stuff on my own.
Well if you disconnect the power cable for the logic board aswell, obviously it won't work.

This is weird still. Is it CD/DVDs that work but not blu-rays? Or does an original disc show as data disc?
The only thing I can think of is that the drive is faulty (happens with new drives too).

having the same issue here, recently picked up a faulty PS3 60 gb fatty which i thought just had a dead laser, so replaced the laser with a brand new laser and still no go, the drive is taking in and ejecting the discs fine and the disc is spinning inside the drive too but it doesnt appear in the xmb, all i get is the clock turning round and round. When playing an Audio disc eventually a disc icon appears in the xmb but if you try to play the tracks it says data is corrupted. lol
So anyway heres what i have tried so far, I tested this drive and laser in another PS3 and it loaded every disc, audio, dvd, blu ray, ps1, ps2 and ps3 Games. I tried the ribbon cable from my other PS3 in this console and still the same, and vice versa.
So my guess is the Logic board is either Dead or not paired to this motherboard, luckily for me the firmware is on 3.55 so i'm hoping I can remarry a new controller board to it.
I installed otherOS 3.55 firmware hoping to get QA Flag on this system so I Could downgrade it but when I Launch it the system does not beep as it should and just black screens. It also black screens on anything installed on the hard drive i.e multimann etc
1 other thing I also deliberately paired up the wrong logic board to the drive to see what happens and it behaves the same, does not load anything and still get the clock spinning in the top corner which i thought was odd as i thought that if you see the clock spin then it indicates that the system has the correct logic board for the console?? can anyone verify this??
So now my question is where do i go from here? Should i just give up or is there still hope for this console??
If either the OP or BadAsh786 are in the UK and have the original Logic board I can remove, reball and swap the BGA responsible for marrying the drive to the console which will fix your issues without any messing around with software fixes, and there will be no loss of BD playback either.
Without a working and married logic board, you cannot run any game or homebrew app (including QA flag) from XMB, you need to downgrade via service mode.

Yeh thanks i managed to resolve my problem with the drive, luckily the PS3 was on 3.55 so I downgraded with a dongle to 3.15 then did the remarry process, couldnt back up my Blu Ray files because i could not launch multimann so lost blu ray playback during the process but at least everything else works now. Playing Games is more important to me anyway and I can watch Blu Rays on My PS3 Slim if i really need to :-)
