I was wondering if it is possible to add AACS encryption to an AVCHD folder structure stored on a USB stick?
I know it is made to work on discs but DVDFAB made a way to copy cinavia protected content by adding AACS back to their copy.
The only problem with this is that you have to burn it and I don't really see the point in this. It's much more convenient to have backups on a hard drive than on discs.

So would it be possible to add some kind of protection to a USB AVCHD folder and set it so it is allowed to play on any device?

    No.

The AACS folder is read by a bluray drive before it reads anything else the on the disc (so it can update the mkb and revocation lists etc).

As a BR movie cannot be mounted the same way as a game disc, the ps3 can't access the data to apply it anyway.

Unless this 'fix' can be stripped from the AACS folder and put in a package somehow that you could load before the film, then maybe.
    Censorship is bad.
