60gb ps3 heatsink removal

hello i wound up buying another 60gb ps3 as i was playing it a message came up that told me it was getting too hot and will shut down i noticed the heat output was getting hot so im thinking it could use new thermal paste i was gonna use Arctic Silver 5 but previous experiences have me kinda afraid of doing more damage, basic problem separating the heatsink from the board, since the thermal paste would have it pretty stuck to the board im afraid of flexing the board to free it from heatsink does anybody have any special techniques to separate the heatsink from board? please i have all my money in this new ps3 lol

you can try running the system for some time, before trying to remove the heat sink...!!! The point is when system runs for some time, the heat generated tend to loosen up the thermal compound....!!! It will be lot more easier to remove the head sink from a hot system than a cold one...!!!
I have done it for my fat 80GB system..!!! Ran it for some 30 mins with uncharted 3 as i remember....!!!

Other than that i haven't heard any method to loosen up the thermal compound ;)

you can also use the hot air tool and set the temp to 38C in low air and concentrate it on thermal pads, doing it on two pieces should befine 1minute per pad.

and that should let the glued thermal compound on cure state
