60gb ps3 cecha01 fan modding help needed

hello all i am new to this forum, i hope im posting in the right section, i did best i could to find right spot. I am having some problems with my 60gb ps3 model cecha01, first off it recently got the ylod and i fixed it by reflowing the board. I wanted to do the 12v fan mod, I did this mod on a 40gb ps3 and its still running today. I got a soldering iron, 24 gauge wire, some solder, and a 100k ohm linear potentiometer. When i installed everything properly (either of the outside legs on pot go to fan, middle leg goes to3.3v source on leftmost wire on PSU wire connector) upon firing it up i noticed i couldn't control speeds, it only runs full speed (12v). Does anyone know why? it pretty much sounds like a jumbo jet and its very noisy, but the pot should be giving some resistance right? this mod worked on my 40gb ps3 why wont it work on my 60gb? HELP PLEASE thanks in advance

I use item no. 190705605484 on Ebay and it works great!

The "12v mod" as used on Xbox's won't work properly as the speed of the PS3 fan is controlled using pulse width modulation rather than a varying voltage.
