*idea* netflix, trick ps3 to think its logged into psn

Just an idea but couldn't we just setup some sort server on our local network to convince the ps3 that the we're connected to psn. Its not like we have to get the ps3 to really connect to psn for netflix to work, just have the ps3 believe it is. This would only be useful for netflix of course.
wasn't sure if this should go in the general section or not.

people should have just called up and bitched during the psn outage ,and blew up netflix phones and support lines with complaints ,and have people saying that they would never give any of their data to psn again and then threaten to cancel their NF subscription if they didnt do something about the psn login requirement ,and also spam the shit out of their support email inbox too with the same sort of ultimatum ,im sure if they got hundreds of customers saying they would cancel it they had to be forced to give their personal info and data to sony again after they were hacked all those times and had their data stolen ,then they would get off their asses and do something ,like maybe give sony an ultimatum ,like we pull our netflix licence ,so you can no longer offer NF on your ps3 console if you dont allow our customers to login without being logged in to psn
everyone with an account or not should have called netflix and demanded that they drop the PSN login requirement ,and then threaten to cancel their subscription if they said no
it would not have been an unreasonable request , i mean over a month of not being able to access a service that you are paying for ,plus them forcing you to give your data to a company and their service that is a known security risk , and is not even technically needed to access netflix is more than a legit argument , it is total consumer abuse ,and if people had any balls and werent so damn lazy and had just got off their arses and complained enough we would have seen this ridiculous requirement go away

Well you could still access Netflix while psn was down. Just had to press login and when the "maintenance" message came up you pressed circle. But you could get on after bypassing psn login back then.

has anyone tried using fckpsn and blocking the psn servers in the host file? That might give you the same error and let you log into netflix.

First off, I have psn and all the sony servers block by my router. The closest I've got to getting netflix running on my ps3 was using the rebug netflix package, which is just the 2.01 package with an edited sfo. Since I've never signed up or logged into psn on my ps3 I had to edit my xRegistry.sys file and add a fake psn id for my account so the netflix app would at least get to the point of asking me to log into psn, at which point I just kept trying to sign into psn with my fake account everytime getting the psn network timeout error code (my router is blocking it), which I can't remember right now. Eventually netflix tries to load but I get a netflix error (I can't remember this exact error either), this might actually work for someone who has used their ps3 on netflix but I've never entered my netflix login info on my ps3 and it seems I can't get to the point of entering that info unless my ps3 thinks its logged into psn.

yea i think we can get on with rebug ,maybe i will switch from 3.41 to rebug to try it now ,sine the new rebug fix is out that fixed uncharted 2 and some other games, i wonder if rebug has the same game compatiblity as kmeaw now, if it does i would consider using it, the bad game compatibility was what was keeping me from trying it
@robman2122 yea your right ,but for some reason that wasnt working for everyone
it either had to do with the region your in or the gui version you had
i dont think anyone figured out the exact reason but those were the 2 best main theories

using the rebug update didn't get netflix working for me, it wasn't suppose to enable psn anyways though. I might help someone who already has their netflix credentials already stored in their ps3 using the back button trick that worked for some during the psn outage.

maybe the Developer Network source code LulzSec released could be installed on a local server and connecting to that could convince the PS3 that psn is connected to get netflix going, if only I could find it. But then again that might be something else unrelated.

ok maybe not, that source code is just for the dev website not the sp-int. I may be wrong though, but looking through the archive they are mostly just php files. (the archive was actually pretty easy to find)

Same here update didn't fix Netflix, however Netflix itself did update a few days ago. Never did sign in to PSN and won't now since on 3.55, however what back button trick are you referring to?
