It would be an interesting thing if you could provide any 4X DVD+R DL... 2.4 DVD+R DL is for 10-15 usd these days. (so it's not worth it at all...) 4x DL writers use the 2.4 disks at 4x speed. NEC is a nice drive, but there are many others these days whihc are good, especially the new Pioneer 108 which really offers 16x single layer burning speed and 4x at DVD+R DL. *and 8x at both RW's*
pS: how much does the Verbatim cost over there anyway ? It's 0.9 usd here. (4x speed) Media that use the Ritek dye are for 0.5-0.6 usd. (4x)
I'm sticking with Fuji-Film dvd-r's for a while no problems or complaints and there cheap as hell.
I used to use Verbatim since I heard a lot of good news about them (but there's no articles at www.gamecopyworld.com on DVD brands [they're fairly comprehensive about CD's though]) so I just got Verbatims. However, after a while they started to not read very well, so I burned OFF the Verbatims onto the TDKs, and guess what? It worked flawlessly. Odd issue, I CANNOT USE VERBATIMS, but I CAN USE TDKS?
Oh yeha, about Dual Layers, there ain't that many DVD9 games out there, I paid $120AUD (Which is like... $86USD) for an LG 12x Dual Layer Burner (I couldn't find the BenQ one which scored utter best at tomshardware.com, so I had to settle with second best), JUST so I could burn champions of Norrath. Anyways, I burnt it, runs fine. Apparently they stress the laser a lot though.
AH, another thing, in reference to the amount of stress and LA damage caused by bad media, have a good read of this article:
