Will a Re-burn help?

Hi, I have a backup game on a dvdr that isn't too good and as a result is very choppy while playing (game is futurama and seems to stream data from the disc as you play). Would it help if I were to make an image of this disc and then burn to higher quality media?

I think that this should be okay as the data should be complete, with the only problem being that the ps2 can't read it from the disc fast enough.

Any thoughts?
